Yufo
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Yufo's planet got drunk, so now they're stuck in limbo-verse, waiting till things improve at home. Another creature lives in limbo-verse, with the ability to either ensure its safety, or its demise. Let's hope the creature is kind...
Leave Yufo on in the background on your computer as you go about your daily tasks. If you close the window, Yufo will regress back into egg form. Yufo will let you know when it needs something, but it is best to anticipate their needs (leave sound on).
Controls
- The B button (alt) moves the icon selection on the screen.
- The A button (ctrl) confirms the use of a selected icon, or switches to the clock screen if no icon is selected.
- The Select button (shift) will clear any icon selection, and close whatever menu the screen is currently showing.
- Press F1 to enlarge the screen
Quick tips: Don't overfeed Yufo, don't let them sit with their filth for too long, put them to sleep once in a while or they'll die young. Yufo gets happier faster if they win rock, paper, scissors. Also, some actions will change their overall appearance as they grow up.
NOTE: The attention icon (bottom right) doesn't work right now.
This tamagotchi-style toy was our first small game made with the Uxn ecosystem. Sprites were drawn in Nasu. Made for the Virtual Pet Jam 2022.

i couldn't figure out what the indicator with a neutral smiley stands for. whatever i did, the status went down. eventually the creature became sad and an icon that looks like either a nauseous face or batman's logo appeared. idk what i did wrong
i know i'm late but thats basically the entertainment ish meter, you need to play with the pet (3rd icon from the left at the top that looks like a pc or something) to fill up the bar, just click ctrl on the icon, whereafist will appear, and click ctrl again,, it's basically a rock paper scissors game.
Hi! I downloaded your game yesterday!! I really love it so far!! But I wanted to address that I cant save the game, not sure if its supposed to be like this. If not, what should I do? Thanks in advance!
yea there's no save, that is intentional. Yufo has a very short life anyway
so cuuuute
Having some trouble with this on Linux emu, both this version and if I build it myself. I can run piano.rom just fine but this rom just comes up as a black unresponsive screen in the emu. ??? help? ideas?
Are you on the latest version? Could you tell us what steps you did to run Yufo?
We updated the guide yesterday, it covers how to launch roms:

Well weird, I was 100% sure I had tried both the uxnemu included here and also my compiled-from-source one, but today it's running fine from the downloaded uxnemu. I'll hunt down my compilation problem some other day, I've got a virtual pet to take care of. Sorry for the false alarm!
EIther way, glad it works :)
oh no i give it so much spaghetti it got sick! now i clearly fit the italian grandma stereotype D=
not much happens...wait he has legs and is sleeping...he is awake...now sleeping...there is a button...it's gone...he ate some food...sleep...the screen is white (daytime)...so the icons are (food)(night/day)(?)(drink)(poop)(love)(frck you)(hangout)?...he does not like that finger in his ass...toilet paper is accompanied by a wave sine...is it music...how long should he sleep? would this be better on a watch? maybe there IS a reason to get an Apple watch hahahaha. This deserves it's own little computer and screen. Does he die? My 8 year old likes it. I do too...oh, the third icon is a hand...hmmmm....paper/scissors/rock...nice, he smiled
Looks cute. Screen is the size of a euro coin (windows 10/5k dell).
For a bigger screen size, press F1.
That didn't work for me
Are you on Windows? If so we made an update, should be fine if you re-download the emulator.
Thanks for the update. It works fine on Windows now. The window is big enough. Maybe it would be even nicer with sounds (from Orca?) :).
