Oquonie for Playdate
Oquonie » Devlog
We've been meaning to release Oquonie for Playdate for a year, but we had to redraw a lot of the assets so it would display properly on a 1-bit screen. It's finally done, and avaiable. We've also made the a monochromatic uxn rom available in case someone wants to run it on a classic macintosh or something :)

I just bought it after seeing that the Playdate version just came out—congratulations! Everything about this game has me hypnotized. It’s truly a marvel! I love isometric games, and the atmosphere and art are out of this world!
Hi, I just purchased this but can’t sideload it onto my Playdate. It says there is no top level pdx file. Can you help?
When you unzip Oquonie(Playdate), do you see Oquonie.pdx? Or something else?
I see a folder called Oquonie.pdx, but I don’t see a file with that name.
Oh wow, OS X thinks that the pdx is a folder.. Mhmm, that's interesting. Just as an experiment, if you zip the .pdx folder, and remove the .zip extension so the zipped file is `oquonie.pdx`, and give the playdate that file, what happens?
Wait, I noticed others have this issue on OS X, I think when you do Open, select the .pdx folder directly, it should work. : )
I tried this on iOS and it would not let me select the folder. I tried it on Windows and it let me select it, but it did not work. (However, I did get it working, see comment above.)
I got it working and here's what I did (I don't know how to do all this stuff in iOS, so I switched over to Windows) -
I opened the zipped folder and there was a folder called "Oquonie". Inside that folder, there was a folder called "Oquonie.pdx". I then re-zipped just the "Oquonie.pdx" folder, without the "Oquonie" folder, and then I fed the result, "Oquonie.pdx.zip" to the Playdate, and that seems to have worked just fine. I'm installing now and will let you know if there are further issues, but I'm sure it's good.
There was a Playdate system update just the other day, I wonder whether that has caused this to be a problem all of a sudden.
Thank you!
Amazing!
looks awesome. Have no idea what I’m doing but I’m sure I’ll figure it out with time! Haha
One feedback would be that for the playdate version, it would be a nice touch if the little white dots (stars?) in the background extended to fill the dimensions of the play date screen rather than effectively having black sidebars
OOOooh! That's a good idea, we restrict the particles to a square around the scene, but it would be much nicer if it covered the whole screen. We'll add that this week :)
